Heat and Energy Recovery Ventilators in Nashville, TN
Great indoor air quality requires some ventilation. If you ventilate your house too much to maintain great indoor air quality, that is going to be allowing for excessive heat transfer. This can really reduce overall energy efficiency when heating and cooling your home.
Maynard is here to help. We’re your clean air, clean water, and clean energy experts in Nashville and Middle Tennessee. We can install a great HRV or ERV system in your home. We also offer maintenance and repairs for the systems you already have. Our focus is always on service first.
Need a Helping Hand, Call the Maynard Man.
How Does Heat and Energy Recovery Work?
Heat recovery ventilators and energy recovery ventilators are mechanical ventilation systems that vent stale air out of homes while bringing clean, fresh air in. They avoid wasting the energy that they’ve used to condition that outgoing air in the first place by using the outgoing air to precondition the fresh air that comes in.
Both HRVs and ERVs warm cold incoming air in the winter with the heat from the outgoing air, and cool the incoming hot air in the summer with the outgoing cool air. ERVs also mix the airstreams just enough to ensure that humidity is ideally balanced. That’s the only real difference.
Which is Right for Me?
Heat recovery ventilators are most commonly used in those areas where high humidity levels persist in the winter season, while ERVs are commonly suggested for use in those areas where humidity can reach both extremes throughout the year. That being said, you need to remember that there are a lot of factors that can influence humidity levels in your home.
These may include the number of occupants in your home, the airtightness of its thermal envelope, and more. The best way to ensure that you get the right system for your needs is to work with trained professionals that have the answers to all of your questions. Ours fit the bill, so let us know if you need a helping hand!
