Water Filtration from the Maynard Man

There’s no wrong reason to add a whole-house water
filtration system to your home. Some people get one to improve the taste of
their water, while others choose a system to eliminate health concerns—like the
effects of contaminated water on someone with a weakened immune system!

The Maynard Man can’t very well say we’re the “Clean Water
Expert” if we didn’t give you all the facts.

Why Do I Need Water Filtration?”

You might not! We can find out through professional water
testing, which is when we take samples of water from various locations in order
to see if it’s being impacted by contaminants or anything else that could be
lurking in your plumbing system (such as excess calcium and magnesium). You
might need water filtration if:

  • You’ve
    noticed limescale.
You might also notice water spots on your dishes after
they’ve been washed. Don’t worry, there’s nothing wrong with your
dishwasher—yet. The buildup of calcium and magnesium creates what’s called hard water. Harmless to ingest, hard
water damages your plumbing system, appliances, and impacts your quality of
life. A whole-house water softener installation will resolve this!
  • Your
    water has a weird taste.
Water goes through heavy filtration at the
municipal source. But that water has a long way to go before it reaches your
plumbing fixtures! Waterborne contaminants can make their way in, and start
affecting the health and taste of your water. If you’ve noticed anything funky
with your water, particularly if there’s a metallic taste, you should have a
    pro check it out.
  • The water
coming from your taps is colored.
Ew! This is a definite sign that water treatment is necessary. Another
possibility is that your water heater has begun rusting and sending discolored
water to your hot water faucets and taps. If you’re only noticing discolored
hot water, and not noticing it from the cold lines, that’s likely your answer.

The Maynard Man can help you make an informed decision on
what type of water filtration or water treatment system is best for your home.
You’ll want to consider things like what contaminants are in your water, if you
need a whole-house system or can get away with a point-of-use system that
treats water in batches (i.e. if your kitchen sink for drinking water).
